Next Expedition - Mt Manaslu

HIGH ALTITUDE MOUNTAINEERING

The mountaineering focus this year has turned to Mt Manaslu which I will attempt to climb in late September/early October as part of a team.

The details from Google can be found below,

Mount Manaslu 8156 meters is eighth highest peak of the world. Manaslu located along the border of Nepal and China situated at west central Nepal. It was first climbed in 1956 by a Japanese expedition team. Manaslu is located about forty miles east of Annapurna range, the tenth highest mountain of the world. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&t=h&source=embed&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=210676102320184694459.0004c7add539bc0181d09

5 days until we depart for Switzerland. Starting to tie everything together before we get on our way. Van serviced, habitation check and a clean. Travel insurance and equipment checks. Talking to Theo, Paul, Craig, Adrian and Steve regularly as we all turn our focus towards our trip.

Mac our guide has adjusted the itinerary slightly for the first few days. We're going to base ourslevs in Arolla and start training from there. Hoping to take in the Pigne d'Arolla as an acclimatisation route prior to moving over to Chamonix for our summit attempt.

Training Weekend in Snowdonia

Just had a fantastic couple of days training in Snowdonia for Mt Blanc expedition in seven weeks time. Theo, Graig and I managed to have a good look at clothing and equipment for the trip, practice some mountaineering techiniques and enjoy some fantastic scenery.

Three of the team couldn't join us for a variety of reasons, however, we'll make do with the internet and take a slower run into the training/aclimatisation when we arrive in Switzerland on Saturday 23 Jun 12 to start our journey.........................
